Our Story
Mobile Sauna Rentals • Comox Valley, Vancouver Island
Born from Heat, Nature, and Community
Here to share the rejuvenating ritual of the Finnish sauna
Nomadic Sauna began with a simple idea — to share the rejuvenating ritual of the Finnish sauna in the wild beauty of Vancouver Island. We wanted to make that deep, restorative warmth accessible to anyone, anywhere — from forest clearings to beach edges, from quiet backyards to mountain cabins.
Our mobile sauna was handcrafted with care, built to bring people together in moments of stillness and reflection. Every detail — from the scent of the cedar to the crackle of the wood stove — was designed to connect you with nature, with others, and with yourself.
The word sauna comes from Finland, where the ritual is sacred — a place to cleanse, heal, and slow down.
Here on Vancouver Island, surrounded by ocean mist and towering evergreens, we’ve brought that tradition to life in our own way.
Our wood-fired sauna and optional cold plunge create a mindful cycle of heat and renewal — a practice that soothes both body and mind.
Locally owned and operated, we’re proud to call the Comox Valley home.
From Courtenay to Campbell River and south to Qualicum Beach, our sauna travels wherever warmth is needed.
We believe wellness should be simple, accessible, and grounded in nature — and that’s what drives every Nomadic Sauna experience.
To inspire reconnection — with nature, with others, and with the quiet inside yourself.
Whether it’s your first sauna or your fiftieth, our goal is to bring you a few hours of peace, restoration, and simple joy.
Nomadic Sauna — Heat. Chill. Repeat.
In the Winter of 2021 Tanja, with the love & support of her husband Joel, built Nomadic Sauna from the ground on up. Tanja was raised with strong Finlandia roots that has instilled some of her most cherished memories as a child. Today, Sauna is a big part of her life as its been greatly ingrained within their own Family. Tanja continues to share her passion and commitment throughout the Community in her life & in her work as an Registered Nurse.
As of Autumn 2024, Tanja passed the torch selling Nomadic Sauna as a whole to Julie, along with her loving & supportive husband Brian. Julie has a fun loving history playing and working in the Canadian Nordic Culture, from her days working in Whistler, Fernie & now playing at the Valley's home hill Mount Washington. Julie's jack of all trades knowledge makes her a great torch bearer for Nomadic's next Adventures. Julie's commitment to serve her community with the fundamentals of mindfulness with a strong, well rounded service background will be a true asset to the Valley.
